Date nights don’t happen very often at this point in our lives but this fitted dress (not maternity) from Express is the perfect look for a night out with my man!  The sequin pattern is to die for and I love how it continues on to the back of the dress.  I hate when companies “cheap out” and don’t continue the design from the front to the back, this dress from Express doesn’t have that problem and at $79.90 is a good price point for so much intricate detail.  The Dior So Real glasses have become my fast favorite lenses and add a touch of cool to the look!

This beautiful tie dye dress is actually meant to be a maxi skirt.  I am just such a shorty that I pulled the waist up over my chest and voila instant maternity dress!  Gypsy Soul right out of Kelowna sells these beautiful hand dyed skirts, dresses, kimonos and much more.  No two pieces are identical which makes each piece unique and feel custom.  The fabrics are so flow-y and whimsical as you can see from the photos.  They are perfect for the hot summer days and nights because they are so whisper thin.

I’m linking their website so you can see the collection but check back often online and in store in Kelowna as they are always pumping out new looks and products!

Yesterday we celebrated our sweet baby “Tinkerbell” with a baby shower thrown by my mother in law Barb!  It was a beautiful day outside which we were so thankful for because the weather in Kelowna hasn’t been very good, especially for July.  Bleh.  Many of my girlfriends came out to shower baby girl and the best part was having my mom and sister in town from Ohio to partake in all the fun!  These photos were taken by my sister (except the one she is in, that was our Dad!) in my mother in laws garden.  The flowers she has planted were the perfect backdrop to capture my baby shower outfit!  I especially love the lavender.

Dressing while pregnant can definitely be a challenge.  Many people hate being pregnant in the summer because of the heat but I actually don’t mind it because you can wear lots of dresses!  And when I say lots, I mean it.  It’s what I live in all summer and pregnancy long.  Especially since I refuse to buy maternity clothes!  Dresses are an easy yet stylish option.  To be in the third trimester in summertime means no squeezing into jeans, trying to zip winter coats around a round belly and no layering up.  Heck how do you even tie up snow boots when pregnant in the dead of winter?!

This outfit is just so fun and effortlessly cool even while expecting!  It really is amazing what great accessories can do to a shift dress.  These shots were taken by the insanely talented Sharla Pike.  Check her out Kelowna for stunning yet natural photography!

On Friday my husband and I hosted our annual Canada Day bash!  This was the 6th year and definitely the biggest and best party yet!  I paid extra attention to details to make it as festive as possible for Canada’s 149 Birthday.  The day before I picked up red roses and white hydrangeas from Costco to make a few flower arrangements to place on the tables where the food would be served.  Michael’s craft store had TONS of options for red and white ribbon to tie around the mason jars which held the flowers.  We used plastic cutlery that I wrapped in cute Canada Day napkins and wrapped in twine.  I just love how they turned out!

My outfit was a pretty empire waist maxi dress from American Eagle and for the touch of red a bandana was the perfect accessory!

While I am truly an American Girl at heart I do love and have fully embraced living in Canada!  My husband is Canadian and my babies will both have been born here.  I do still celebrate many US holidays like “Fourth of July” and “American Thanksgiving.”  (Hello!  I will not pass up having turkey dinner back to back!) While I am a resident of Canada I intend on keeping my US citizenship.

As a little parting favor I dipped red licorice in white chocolate with sprinkles!  A very easy craft that looks so cute.  I originally wanted to do white chocolate dipped pretzel rods but could not find them anywhere in Kelowna.  Who knew pretzel rods were such an “American thing?!”  I was told they get them seasonally.  Apparently there is a pretzel season!
