This elegant and classic jacket has become one of my fast favorites!  Bought at Ann Taylor on Black Friday for 50% off it was definitely a great purchase and one that I will wear for years to come.  The classic lines and style of the jacket will never be out of style.  It’s very “Chanel”!  It also comes in petite sizes which is wonderful for small framed gals.  With narrow shoulders and a shorter jacket and sleeve length it needs absolutely no tailoring.  While this piece appears to be sold out online it seems to available in store in the multi colour I’m wearing and also black.  I’d recommend using the “Find in Store” locator on Ann Taylor’s website to see if it is available near you!

Last month Todd and I celebrated our third wedding anniversary!  This is the outfit I wore for our weeknight date night out.  It has been super cold in Kelowna this winter so this was a great “dress up” option without actually wearing a dress.  The sweater is so cozy and I really love the feminine details of the peplum and bell sleeves.

Festive LBD

After a brief break from actual blog posts I’m excited to be releasing new content in these upcoming weeks!  My life is so crazy with two little babies, my step children and their activities, the holidays, family and friends and just trying to manage it all!  Christmas is absolutely my favorite time of the year.  I love everything about it and dressing for holiday parties is high on top of my list!  This year we have had a few fun things going on and it’s no secret I like clothes so picking some festive items out has been a blast.  This LBD is so beautiful and totally affordable!  And it also comes in petite sizes which is great for shorties like me.  That way we don’t have to alter it and loose the beautiful detail in the hemline.  Score!  I was lucky enough to purchase this dress on Black Friday for 50% off but I know that LOFT does great sales all the time so you don’t ever have to pay full price!  Adding the pops of RED and statement earrings take it up a notch for the holidays.  I seriously can’t wait for Christmas morning with all the kids!  Maverick doesn’t understand much about it yet but he did just have a Birthday (two on Dec 2!) and he enjoyed opening up presents and getting toys.  It’s fun to relive all the magic through his eyes!

Last night my husband Todd and I had the opportunity to attend the Daffodil Ball!  This is a wonderful event that benefits the Canadian Cancer Society.  This year they asked that the guests wear cocktail attire which definitely suits Kelowna more then a full out formal event.  People here are very laid back and the style is super effortless and relaxed.  It was great to see everyone all dressed up for a glamorous night out for such a good cause!

Surprise!

So the past several weeks I have definitely taken a step back from blogging.  The truth is we are expecting our second child together and I just haven’t felt up for it!  We are so excited about this baby as it was important for us for Maverick to have a younger sibling to grow up with.  He absolutely adores my step children who are 12 and 14!  Now this will even things out on the baby end and he’ll have a buddy he can boss around!

I am now almost 20 weeks along and have been feeling great!  I’m over all of the yucky first trimester stuff and into a good grove with the second.  The third was by far the hardest for me the last pregnancy because I just got so uncomfortable at the end.  Maverick was a big baby at 9 lbs. 5 oz. (thanks to his Dad) and I am very petite!  I’m hopeful that this one will be a bit smaller.  Now my blog will shift into dressing the bump in a practical way.  I’m a firm believer in not buying too much actual maternity clothes, with so many flow-y options it can be done!  Plus then you can wear many of the things after.  And at the very end big T-shirts and sweatpants are always okay in my book!

Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve is my favorite day of the year!  This year was spent in Columbus, Ohio at my parents house with many family members from all over the US.  I just love all the traditions that we share.  We always get dressed up and go to Catholic Mass followed by an amazing dinner with some bubbles and wine!  In our family we play a few fun games afterwards and always have the movie Christmas Vacation playing on repeat for everyone to enjoy!

This dress by Byron Lars for Anthropologie is a show stopper!  I wore it once before to a gala my husband and I attended and got many compliments on it.  It is so unique with all of the textures and combinations of different fabrics and I love that it is available in petite sizes as well.  Best of all it is on sale right now on Anthropologie’s website!

Two nights ago all the ladies of my family went out to see the ballet “The Nutcracker!”  I hadn’t been to a ballet in years and was so moved by the beautiful dancing, costumes, and scenery that we saw during the performance.  The Ohio Theater where the ballet was held is so spectacular!  Built in 1927 it is rich with history and tradition.  This classic ballet fit perfectly in the beautiful venue.  It was so nice to see everyone in the city dressed up for a night out, the little girls in their holiday best was just too adorable!

My outfit was definitely “ballet inspired!”  I have had this skirt from Anthropologie for quite awhile and didn’t really have an occasion to wear it for.  That all changed when my mom told me we had tickets to see the ballet!  This skirt is so feminine and sweet and the tulle makes it perfect for any ballerina wannabe.  While I haven’t been able to locate this exact one on Anthropologie’s website I did see it in the store here in Columbus on sale.  I will also link a few others from them that are similar.  A big “ballet bun” completes the look and the fur stole adds a touch of glam.
